Blue Mountain Jasper is a highly collectible American picture jasper prized for its sweeping landscapes, earthy colors, and scenic patterns. Fine material often displays layers of brown, tan, cream, gold, and blue-gray that resemble distant mountains, desert horizons, and painted skies.

Origin and History

Location: Found in eastern Oregon, with material historically coming from the Blue Mountain region.

Appearance: Known for its distinctive landscape-like patterns, often featuring rolling hills, mountain silhouettes, cloud-like formations, and contrasting bands of natural earth tones.

Formation: Like other fine jaspers, Blue Mountain formed through silica-rich mineral deposits, with iron and other trace minerals creating its characteristic colors and intricate patterns.
