Idaho Sunset Agate is a colorful and increasingly sought-after agate from Idaho, prized for its remarkable combination of translucent chalcedony, vivid color, and wildly varied patterns. Origin and Character

Location: Idaho, USA.

Appearance: Known for combinations of red, orange, cream, yellow, green, gray, and translucent chalcedony. It may contain fortification-style banding, plumes, brecciated patterns, and pockets of crystalline or druzy quartz.

Lapidary Material: The translucency and strong contrast can produce exceptional cabochons. Careful cutting often reveals unexpected layers and patterns hidden within the rough.

Availability: Idaho Sunset is a relatively new material in the lapidary market and is not produced on the scale of common commercial agates. Better pieces displaying strong color, translucency, and distinctive patterning are particularly desirable.
