Kingdom of England Henry III Long Cross Penny 1247-1272 Silver Coin

A crowned facing portrait of King Henry III, with scepter in right hand. The surrounding Latin legend, though heavily worn, identifies the monarch as HENRICUS REX III. The inner beaded circle frames the bust.

A long cross pattée extending to the edge of the coin, with three pellets in each of the four angles. The legend identifies the moneyer and mint location, typically following the 'Name ON City' format.
