Kingdom of England Henry III Long Cross Penny 1247-1272 Silver Coin

The obverse features a crowned facing portrait of King Henry III with a scepter in his right hand. The surrounding legend, though worn, typically reads HENRICUS REX III within a beaded border on this hammered silver flan.

The reverse displays a long voided cross extending to the edge of the coin, with three pellets in each angle. This 'Long Cross' design was intended to prevent illegal clipping of the silver from the coin's edges.
