Number 8 Turquoise

Number 8 Turquoise is a highly collectible American turquoise known for its distinctive blue to blue-green color and dramatic brown, tan, and black spiderweb matrix. High-grade material can display exceptionally tight webbing, making Number 8 one of the most recognizable classic Nevada turquoises.

Origin and History

Location: The Number 8 Mine is located in Eureka County, Nevada, near the Carlin area.

Name: The material takes its name from the historic Number 8 mining claim.

History: Number 8 became particularly well known for producing large quantities of high-quality turquoise, including exceptional spiderweb material that has been prized by Native American and studio jewelers for decades.

Status: The Number 8 Mine is no longer a significant commercial producer of turquoise. Much of the material available today comes from older collections and stockpiles, making fine natural Number 8 increasingly collectible.

Each of our Number 8 cabochons is individually hand-cut and polished in our studio to showcase the natural color, matrix, and character of the stone.
