1736 Dutch East India Company (VOC) Copper 1 Duit
Dating to 1736, this original copper 1 Duit is a surviving piece of early 18th-century history from the Dutch East India Company, one of the most influential maritime trading organizations of its time.
Founded in 1602, the Dutch East India Company, known by its famous VOC initials, operated a vast network of merchant ships, trading posts, and commercial settlements connecting Europe with Asia. Its activities helped shape international commerce during the great age of sailing ships and colonial expansion.
One side of this coin features the distinctive interlocking VOC monogram, accompanied by the date 1736. The opposite side displays the crowned heraldic lion of Holland within a shield.
Nearly three centuries old, this coin retains recognizable historical details beneath a dark, naturally aged surface. Its visible wear and patina reflect the passage of time, giving it the unmistakable character of an early copper coin.
A fascinating collectible for enthusiasts of maritime history, colonial-era coinage, and the Dutch East India Company.
